The park’s chief attractions include the Cherry Garden in the west, Yinshui Lake Scenic Area (under construction) in the north, the Zhongshan Island in the south, and the Liuchun Garden in the east.
Thanks to the vast water and long stretching mountains, as well as the unique environment and scarcity of large-scale modern construction, the park preserves mountain-waterscapes and a natural wildness, with poplar and locust trees on the hills, willows weeping on the water bank, and exuberant wild plants by the lakeside.
When the weather in Beijing gets better, and the air temperature rises rapidly, cherry blossoms in Yuyuantan Park are in full bloom, and people know the season has come again when everything comes back to life. For those who visit the park, the scent of blooming flowers is the scent of Beijing in spring.
In midsummer, on the expansive lake of Yuyuantan Park, colorful lotus flowers will be in full bloom. It is the perfect summer resort in which to take a small boat onto the lake, surrounded by lotuses.
